Is Walmart+ Worth It?
An honest breakdown — who wins with the membership, who’s wasting money, and how to find out free.
Updated · Sep 2026
What you actually get
Walmart+ is Walmart’s membership program. The headline benefits have historically included free shipping with no order minimum, free same-day delivery from your local store on eligible orders, fuel discounts at partner stations, and streaming perks — but the lineup and pricing change, so treat Walmart’s current offer page as the source of truth, not any blog post (including this one).
Who it’s genuinely worth it for
- Regular Walmart delivery users. If you get groceries or household basics delivered even twice a month, the delivery benefit alone usually covers the fee.
- Frequent small-order shoppers. No order minimum for free shipping changes how you buy — no more padding carts to hit a threshold.
- Deal-event shoppers. In recent years, members got early access windows to Walmart’s Black Friday-season online waves. If you shop the November events seriously, early access is the difference between “got it” and “sold out.” (2026 event details: unannounced — see our Black Friday hub.)
Who should skip it
Honestly: if you shop Walmart a few times a year, mostly in-store, and don’t care about November’s online events — skip it. A membership you don’t use is the opposite of a deal, and no bounty changes that math for us.
The smart way to decide
Walmart has typically offered a free trial. Take it for a normal shopping week — not a special occasion — and see whether the delivery/shipping benefits actually fire for how you shop. Cancel before it converts if they don’t.
